Unlocated – D10XX

If you have any definite information as to where these photographs were take – and even useful additional information to improve the captioning – I will be very pleased to hear if it. Thank you. If you have one or two images that are not worth you making available to others yourself, but you wouldn’t mind appearing on this website for that purpose, they would be welcome too – I am quite happy to credit you.

On top of an embankment, tethered to a brake van, 1056 “WESTERN SULTAN” – a frequent visitor to the far west over the years – looks in very good external condition. On its rear end it has an asymmetrical cab ventilator, that I thought really disfigured this class. 7####AG01-UNK-D1056-PARKD

The driver of D1002 “WESTERN EXPLORER” looks at the photographer and laughs at a remark from his mate as the locomotive bowls along with the 1110 Paddington to Aberystwyth Cambrian Coast Express. The engine is still relatively new and is finished in green with red backed nameplates. 6####DT01-UNK-D1002-PAS_D

There is nothing recorded about this picture, other than the loco caught in movement is D1043 “WESTERN DUKE” apparently about to enter under a skew bridge. It was taken in the days before large yellow catches were fixed to the top of the battery box covers below the solebar to avoid coming open in passage. 7####FF01-UNK-D1010-LIGHT
